Rwanda Bourbon Muteteli Immerse yourself in the richness of Rwanda’s highlands with our exclusive Muteteli coffee. This unique coffee blends the best of three renowned growing regions of Rwanda, where coffee trees thrive in fertile volcanic soil and cool high-altitude climate.

The beans are grown by small farmers at elevations between 1700 and 2200 meters above sea level, ensuring exceptional quality and a complex cup profile. Every sip is a tribute to Rwanda’s diversity and natural beauty.

Known as the "land of a thousand hills," Rwanda offers ideal conditions for growing specialty coffee. High altitude, nutrient-rich volcanic soil, and a favorable climate contribute to the outstanding quality of Rwandan coffee. The Bourbon variety, widely grown here, is prized for its sweetness, fruity notes, and balanced acidity. While it’s a more delicate and demanding variety to cultivate, Bourbon thrives in Rwanda and achieves exceptional results. Local farmers focus on fully washed processing, which highlights clarity and vibrant flavor.

Rwanda Bourbon Muteteli washed stationDespite its turbulent history, Rwanda is now firmly established on the specialty coffee map. Coffee was first introduced by German missionaries in the early 1900s, and cultivation expanded significantly in the 1930s under Belgian colonial rule. Even after independence, coffee remained central to the economy. Since the 1970s, it has been Rwanda’s most important export crop—so much so that cutting down coffee trees has been illegal since 1973..
