Robusta India Parchment Washed, Grade AB
Premium quality Robusta with a sweet nougat aroma. It is pleasantly bittersweet with zero acidity. In its creamy taste, you will find delicious notes of nougat and roasted hazelnuts. It has a higher caffeine content and creates a rich, thick crema in your espresso.

Why does Indian Robusta deserve your attention?
India is no longer just a land of tea. It ranks among the top ten coffee producers in the world, and about 70% of its production is exactly Robusta. Thanks to the specific climate and lower altitude (around 600–1,300 meters above sea level), this coffee plant has absolutely ideal conditions for growth here. Combined with the immense care of local farmers, our Indian Robusta rightfully ranks among the most premium choices on the global market. It is the perfect choice for those of you looking for a strong, full-bodied base for your daily coffee ritual.
What exactly does the label "Washed Parchment AB" mean?
At BotaCoffee, we value transparency, which is why we are always happy to explain what hides behind the name of our coffee. India uses its own unique grading and naming system. While you might be familiar with classic processing method names, in India, all washed Robustas are labeled with the word "Parchment". The letters "AB" then determine the size and quality of the bean. In the Indian system—which starts from the largest AAA beans and continues through AA, A, down to AB—you can be absolutely sure you are getting carefully selected, high-quality beans in your hands.
The story of seven beans hidden in a turban
Are you wondering how coffee even got to India? Legend has it that in the 17th century, a saint named Baba Budan stopped in the Yemeni port of Mocha during his pilgrimage. There he discovered the coffee plant, secretly hid seven coffee beans in his turban, and smuggled them all the way to India. He planted them in his courtyard near the mountains, laying the foundation for coffee cultivation on the Indian subcontinent. Even today, this coffee comes from family farms in the south of the country, where coffee plants grow in the incredibly diverse environment of the Western Ghats mountain range.
